Description: A paper in Locke’s hand with the title “Lexicon Syncatabasis 7 [16]88”. It consists of a single sheet of paper folded once to form four pages. The inner pages (ff. 79v, 80r) are organized with an alphabet across the top of the opening; Locke’s notes are captioned and indented under the appropriate letter. The notes consist of definitions of terms taken from Christian Knorr von Rosenroth’s Adumbratio Kabbalae Christianae, which was issued in 1684 with the second volume of Knorr’s collection of Kabbalistic texts, Kabbala Denudata. Although the “7” in the title seems to refer to Chapter 7 of the Adumbratio, the citations in fact cover the entire work. Publications:
