MS. Locke d. 9

A large notebook with the title “Adversaria Physica 1660” inside the front cover and “Adversaria 5” on p. 1. The number “5” is written on the fore-edge. The book was used for medical notes throughout Locke’s life, although it remained in England during Locke’s travels abroad; most of the entries can be dated between about 1665 and 1669. Most are in Locke’s hand and many are initialed by him.

In June 1666, Locke turned the book around and began to enter his weather observations on p. 531 rev.

vi, 327, [328-544] pages (pp. 327-470 blank). 286 × 186 mm. Calf binding, some blind tooling. Leaves pricked at the corners for ruling margins. Contains a number of loose papers, mounted on blank leaves.
