Pocket memorandum book, 1678-79, with a few entries through 1685.

A notebook arranged and indexed (pp. 2-3) according to Locke’s method of commonplacing. Locke wrote the date “1 Jul. 1678 on p. 1; many of the pages have the date as a header. The content is a mixture of accounts, lists of books, and miscellaneous notes. Many of the notes have been crossed out, indicating that they had been copied into other notebooks or ledgers, as well as Locke’s journals for these years (MS. Locke f. 3 and British Library, Add. MS. 15,642).

184, 185-196 pages. 128 × 74 cm. A single large quire, sewn into a vellum wrapper.
