An exploratory study of adolescents' motivations for joining and continued participation in a 4-H afterschool program

Study of seven youth. Youth mentioned feelings of comfort, safety and connectedness within the program as a reason for remaining a program member. They also mentioned the fun they had and friends they had made within the program, and opportunities to learn new life skills and to develop empathy and maturity.
