Abstract

Utilized Grades 6 and 7 of the 4-H Study of Positive Youth Development to focus on how a father's engagement in his child's activities predicted Grade 7 positive youth development and depression scores. Results indicated the lack of paternal engagement during Grade 6 in children from families in which the mother had a high school or lower lever education were associated with higher depression scores during Grade 7. Gender did not significantly predict children's depression scores.
