Abstract

Jump into food and fitness (JIFF) an intervention program targeted for elementary school-age children was developed by a 4-H team at Michigan State University to educate children 8-11 about food choices, nutrition and physical fitness. The purpose of this study was to test the implementation of this curriculum with Latino children and to develop and pilot evaluation tools for its implementation.

Seven sessions (once a week) of instruction by the primary investigator to this group of 12 children. Tools successful in measuring acquired knowledge, but benefit of training was inconsistent for this sample of children.
