Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the extension agent's perceptions of institutional constraints to the performance of their duties within the Arizona Cooperative Extension System. The population of the study was 66 county extension agents. Considerable variation was observed among respondents in their perceptions of the severity of the constraints. Important findings included that: 4-H agents perceived constraints that were more severe than agricultural or home economics agents and those with more than 5 years of service perceived more constraints in the area of personnel evaluation than agents with five years or less service.
