Abstract | Purpose of study was to examine empathy, self-esteem, community involvement and positive view of the future for both 4-H and non-4H members in an urban setting. The Texas study utilized a quantitative research model. Seven counties participated. Response rate was 27 percent. Findings: Empathy, community involvement, self-esteem and positive view of future can be indicators of leadership; race has a significant impact on self-esteem but not on a positive view of the future; 4-H involvement has a significant impact on community involvement. |
