Abstract | The article discusses efforts by the International Digital Publishing Forum (IDPF), a trade and standards association for the digital publishing industry, to improve the accessibility of standard design formats for electronic books (e-books) and digital publications as of May 2014. Topics include the ePub3 electronic publishing (e-publishing) standard; electronic textbooks (e-textbooks); and IDPF's website, EPUBZone. |
Notes | This article discussed web accessibility issues of digital publishing, in particular the development of e-books. Several formats and versions were compared and contrasted, progress and challenges were identified as well. In the end, this article pointed out future practice in e-books should think more from users' perspective and try to increase the efficacy of coverting documents into more readable and accessible materials. |
