NotesThis is an introduction of a special issue which mainly presents papers from UK RAATE (Recent Advances in Assistive Technology and Engineering) conference 2013 held in Warwick University. The RAATE conference inaugurated in 2001. It is a long-standing annual UK conference focusing on assitive technology. The development of this conference provides insights into trends in the development of the disciplines, technology and services related to assistive technology.
