The Committee of the Library History Group has always been enthusiastic to promote the recording and preservation of libraries as physical entities. As libraries have faced either demolition or conversion to other uses, the need to do something positive has become more urgent. The following report was commissioned by the Committee as a means of considering available options for moving forward the Group's aspirations in this regard. These options are still under consideration, but the report is printed here to draw attention to a subject which the Committee believes should be an important concern of the Group.
