Among many types of publications in the USSR, there was one known to all Soviet readers - school textbooks. Since all schools had a foreign language in their curriculum, all Soviet people spent many years reading foreign educational texts. This paper is concerned with (mostly high school-level) English textbooks, as English was the most commonly studied language of the era of "mature socialism" (late 1960s through the 1980s).
