The investigation contains the analysis and the interpretation of publicies advertisements of La Gaceta Mercantil newspaper (Buenos Aires, Argentina) which have related to the world of the book during 1823-1828. The studies —between another important subjects— are the following times: the bookstores and sale book shops, the most important books’s importers, the printings, the libraries and the possible reading habits. In this way were identified 100 sale books (including 7 bookstores), 72 books’s importers, 771 works announced for sale, authors and titles offered to the public more frequently. The conclusion of this investigation is that through advertisements it is possibleto rebuild a rich and diverse world such as the book in Buenos Aires of that age.
