Abstract
Second of two articles relating to Southport public library in the UK, recounting the life and career of Archibald Sparke. After working in Cardiff, Kidderminster and Carlisle, he served as chief librarian of Bolton from 1904-1931. However, in 1942, until his death at the age of 99, he lived in Southport (England) as a well known and respected character with an infectious enthusiasm for books, shared with his friend B.T.W. Stephenson, Southport's chief librarian from 1934-1964.
