Examines three communities in Pennsylvania (Braddock, Homestead and Duquesne) where Carnegie helped to fund all-purpose facilities that combined libraries with other resources intended to help patrons exercise their minds and bodies. This included swimming pools, bowling alleys, billiard rooms, athletic fields, and music halls.
