| Abstract |
Examines changes in the nature of historical work that have occurred over the last four decades including the advent of computers and electronic texts, electronic publishing, electronic mail, electronic journals and hypertext data bases. States that some of these tools will be of limited use to historians. Historians' personal computers will be a gateway for new forms of electronic information which is shown by the publications of various CD-ROM files of relevance of historians. Other publishing projects in the humanities also offer examples that historians can follow in the use of electronic text and images.
