| Abstract |
As the Special Libraries Association (SLA) prepares to embark on its next chapter by merging with the Association for Information Science & Technology (ASIS&T), it is natural to reflect on the association’s history. Founded in 1909, SLA has been a home for information professionals from the early days of the special library movement through the dawn of the internet to the present day as we grapple with big data and artificial intelligence. This article describes sources of information on the association’s rich history, from an overview of its first century to scholarly publications and primary sources for further research. |
