La Bibliothéque de Limoilou

This article describes the origins and the history of a library in one of the neighbourhoods of Québec City. Many of the public libraries were established on the foundations of an older parish libraries. Such was the case in Limoilou. The public library evolved from one that used reading to control morals and parish life to one that used of reading for cultural advancement and to improve literacy among the citizens.
