Abstract
An analysis of the books classified under this heading throws light on the diffusion of scientific ideas in religious communities. The period of maximum interest in science in all convents turns out to be the end of the 17th century and the beginning of the 18th century. A close inspection of book titles suggests that the monks were well equipped to make sense of the changes in the understanding of nature, which were taking place at the time. New physics was no longer a stranger to the Toulon convents.
