Library Hooligans and Others: Law, Order, and Student Culture in Leningrad, 1924-38

Examines efforts by the Soviet state to enforce codes of model student behavior and student responses. The bulk of the article concerns general campus life and regulations. There is a brief section devoted to library theft and vandalism and increasing penalties for "book crimes".
