Memories of the ALA Library History Round Table

Personal essay published as part of an effort to document the recent history of the Library History Round Table on the occasion of its seventy-fifth anniversary in 2022. Round table members, leaders, and scholars were encouraged to share their personal accounts of key initiatives, events, moments, or people in LHRT’s history. The author reflects on his thirty years involvement in the round table, including serving as Chair in the 1970s and organizing the Library History Seminars. He also describes his role supporting history scholarship as editor of the Journal of Library History from 1977 to 1987 and Libraries & Culture from 1988 to 2006.
