Abstract |
On 1 May 1987 the Virginia Historical Society inaugurated an exhibition on the library of Robert Carter of Nomony Hall with a gallery talk by John R. Barden. Mr. Barden, a doctoral student at Duke University, has recently been appointed historian for the Tryon Palace Restoration Complex in New Bern, North Carolina. The text of his lecture, with accompanying notes, is printed below.
