Abstract
This book discusses many aspects to the conservation of biodiversity. First, it discusses the biological aspects of conservation including: surveys, conservation research, information needs, and human resources. Next, it discusses the socioeconomic context of conservation including: project and country-level research, international economic research, and global macroeconomic research. It then discusses the cultural context of conserving biodiversity including: the local management systems, using local knowledge, and identifying priority groups. Lastly, it proposes recommendations for implementing these policies. In conclusion, it stresses the importance of implementing these programs as soon as possible to protect the remaining biodiversity.
