Abstract

This project will:

  • study the positive and negative socio-economic impact of the HADO project in Tanzania. Specifically assess the impact of the project on agriculture, livestock, fuelwood supply, social services and nutrition
  • assess the attitude of the population (including peasants, officials, workers and students) towards the project as a whole, and particularly towards the expulsion of cattle in the KEA as well as in the lowlands
  • assess the people's awareness of environmental problems
  • study the impact of the pressure caused by an increasing number of livestock and human beings in the adjacent lowlands
  • assess the impact of technological transfer on soil and water conservation
  • investigate the extent to which individual initiatives have been taken in the area of soil and water conservation
  • give recommendations for flow-up in the future. (author)
