The objective of the study was to determine the effectiveness of the EFNEP Eating Smart-Being Active (ESBA) curriculum. A quantitative, multi-state, nonequivalent comparison group pretest post-test design was used to compare nutrition-related behavior changes in participants. ESBA was compared to previously used curricula for three different time periods in 5 states using the EFNEP evaluation tool. Adults enrolled in EFNEP completed their entry and exit paper work during one of three time points. The intervention was the eight-lesson adult curriculum. Analysis of variance and co-variance with pretest scores and demographic variables as co-variance) were used to analyze data with significance at or below .06. ESBA was found to be effective at eliciting positive nutrition-related behavior change.
