Tribal lands comprise 2% of the United States but contain 5% of the potential renewable resources totaling over 14 billion MWh of energy generation potential. A vast majority of this potential has been undeveloped. Challenges such as difficulty accessing capital, securing interconnection and power purchase agreements, and persistent poverty have hindered energy development.
