PP - New York and Cleveland PY - 1970 RN - Born Aleen Wetstein in Pittsburgh (1908-2010), she never finished Ohio State because of the Depression, yet wrote a popular 1930s column, “One Girl Chorus,” for the The Pittsburgh Press for a decade. When she developed A Date with Judy, it became a hit radio show in the 1940s. She married a Pittsburgh lawyer named Jacques Leslie and the two moved to California, where Aleen became one a few female screenwriters for Columbia Pictures. She started by writing Three Stooges scripts. One of her better, funnier screenplays is Father Was a Fullback (1949) starring Fred MacMurray.
