RN - Martha Grimes (1931—) was born in Pittsburgh the daughter of the City Solicitor, William Dermit Grimes. She earned degrees at the University of Maryland and did postgraduate work in poetry—alongside Philip Levine and Donald Justice—at the University of Iowa Writers' Workshop. Author of more than 30 books that have sold five million copies worldwide, she is best known for her detective series about an inspector in Scotland Yard, Richard Jury. She lives in Washington, DC and Santa Fe, New Mexico.
