Abstract |
Harley Altmyer, 19, who works two jobs to care for his three sisters because his mother is in jail for killing his abusive father, develops an obsession for his married neighbor, Callie Mercer. “O'Dell . . . renders finely detailed characters and settings in a desperate and failed mining town. This is a riveting first novel of violence, incest, murder, and madness,” says Booklist.
