Abstract | Follows four protagonists whose lives are marked by grief: eight-year-old Pearl, who saw her younger brother, Riley, and several other children, be killed by an out-of-control driver; Lily, the mother of Pearl and Riley; Adam, an artist famous for a controversial grief-themed piece, and Lily’s sometimes lover; and Sonia, a sixty-something suburbanite, newly widowed. Although set entirely in Australia, Frank Lloyd Wright’s Fallingwater figures so prominently that it becomes a Pittsburgh Novel. |
