Abstract | Set in fictitious Pan Handle City, this story follows Charlie Ransom, a young oil boatman who is jobless during the winter. Charlie decides to take a class at school, and falls in love with Marie Reese, the new teacher. When nitroglycerin torpedoes an oil well, the petroleum spouts up and creates two streams that surround Marie’s house. Fire breaks out and Charlie seeks to heroically save Marie. |
