Author Biography |
Gulielma Fell Alsop (1881-1978), born in Pittsburgh, was a doctor, educator, and writer. Her father Reese Fell Alsop was a prominent Episcopal clergyman; her sister Mary O'Hara was an early screenwriter and author of the popular 1941 novel My Friend Flicka. Gulielma graduated from Barnard College in 1903, became a doctor who did medical missionary work in China, and returned to New York to establish the medical college at Barnard, which she directed for 35 years. She is buried in Hartford, Vermont.
