Author Biography | John Edgar Wideman (1941- ), raised in Pittsburgh's Homewood and Shadyside neighborhoods, graduated from Liberty Elementary and Peabody High School. A star basketball player, he was all-Ivy League at the University of Pennsylvania before winning a Rhodes Scholarship to Oxford. At the Iowa Writers' Workshop he earned a MFA. Wideman is the winner of many literary awards and a professor at Brown University. |
