A television spin-off of the eponymous 1986 film in which Hunt Stevenson (Scott Bakula) is a local hero who tries to resolve conflicts between auto-assembly workers and Kaz Kazuhiro (Gedde Watanabe), the Japanese plant manager new to Western Pennsylvania.

Ganz is a screenwriter, director, and a former adjunct professor of graduate film screening at University of Southern California. Marc "Babaloo" Mandel (1949- ), born in New York City, was educated at Queens College, City University of New York. Mandel is a screenwriter and director.
