Author Biography
William Ernst Trautman (1869-1940) was born to German-American parents in New Zealand. He completed an apprenticeship in brewing in Poland and Germany and in 1890 arrived in Milwaukee, where he joined the brewers union and edited the city's newspaper. In Chicago he became one of the six founding members in 1904 of the Wobblies. Peter Hagboldt (1886-1943) was a professor of German at the University of Chicago.
