Abstract |
Follows a young girl in 1773 Hanna’s Town, the frontier village in Westmoreland County near today’s Greensburg. The plot depicts the daily routine of pioneer life and concludes with the family moving back east for safety at the outbreak of the Revolutionary War.

Author Biography |
Helen Smith (1935—2019) was a historian and writer of children's books. She lived in Greensburg, Westmoreland County. George Swetnam (1904-1999) was a journalist of 30 years for The Pittsburgh Press. A chronicler of all things "Pittsylvanian," he also was an ordained Presbyterian minister, a hobo, salesman, college professor, commercial photographer, folklorist, writer, and historian.
