Abstract
A fictionalized account of Matt Cvetic, a steelworker who infiltrated the Communist Party’s Pittsburgh cell. Cvetic is unable to share his double agent status with his Slovenian family and they shun him as a Red. Cvetic ultimately testifies against the Pittsburgh cell before the House Un-American Activities Committee and resumes his normal life.
Notes
Based on a story by Matt Cvetic (1909-62) and Pete [W. Thornton] Martin (1901-80). Crane Wilbur's script is based upon a radio drama of the same name as the film, which sprung from Saturday Evening Post's memoirs of Cvetic. The script is housed in the Warner Brothers Archive at the University of Southern California.
