Kate Reese flees her abusive ex to fictitious Mill Grove, Pennsylvania. Kate's seven-year-old son, Christopher, struggles with dyslexia and bullies, until he disappears into the woods one day. Six days later, Christopher emerges "unharmed but not unchanged." Christopher begins to thrive, but keeps talking about the "nice man" who led him out of the woods.
Author Biography
Stephen Chbosky (1970— ), born and raised in the South Hills of Pittsburgh, is a novelist, screenwriter, and director. He is a 1988 graduate of Upper St. Clair High School who earned a BFA at University of Southern California's Filmic Writing Program.
