Abstract |
Joey Pigza, who suffers from ADHD and is raised by his grandmother in Lancaster County, cannot sit still or pay attention. After he injures a classmate, the school district sends Joey for medical testing at Children's Hospital in Pittsburgh, where his missing father is rumored to live.

Jack Gantos (1951— ), born and raised in Norvelt, Westmoreland County, earned his BFA and MA at Emerson College. The author of many children's books, he is best known for his fictional character Rotten Ralph and Joey Pigza. Gantos lives in Boston.
