Abstract
When his wife passes away and he is forced to retire from his job of nearly 40 years, the curmudgeonly Otto Anderson (Tom Hanks) decides to kill himself. However, his attempts are constantly interrupted by his boisterous new neighbor, Marisol Mendes (Mariana Treviño), which leads to an unlikely friendship.

Based on the Swedish-language screenplay, A Man Called Ove (2015), by Hannes Holm (1962- ).

Filming locations included Allegheny County's Pittsburgh, Oakmont, Sewickley Heights, and Monroeville, as well as Ambridge, Beaver County and Arnold, Westmoreland County.

The film also stars Truman Hanks, Tom Hanks' son, as young Otto Anderson.

Author Biography

David Magee (1962- ), born in Flint, Michigan, was educated at Michigan State University and the University of Illinois. He wrote the screenplays for Mary Poppins Returns (2018) and Life of Pi (2012), for which he earned an Academy Award nomination.
