Abstract
Vada Sultenfuss (Anna Chlumsky), an 11-year-old tomboy, has been obsessed with death since her mother's passing. Her father (Dan Ackroyd) is the local undertaker and her best friend is an unpopular boy named Thomas J. Sennett (Macaulay Culkin). When Vada falls for her English teacher, she joins his poetry workshop in the summer of 1972 and begins to mature.
