Abstract |
Art Bechstein is a new University of Pittsburgh graduate and the son of a mysterious mobster. In the summer after graduation, Art lingers in Pittsburgh’s East End, drinking, drugging, and falling in love with a beguiling young woman named Phlox Lombardi. Afterwards, in a confused way, Art falls again for a charming young man, Arthur Lecomte. A subplot concerns Cleveland Arning, a highly literate biker and aspiring jewel thief.
