Ten years after a fictitious Third World War, American workers are mostly replaced by machines, and engineers and managers are deeply divided from a now nearly-useless working class. When Paul Proteus, a super engineer, is offered a promotion as manager of his corporation’s flagship, he struggles to determine where his loyalties lie.
Author Biography
Kurt Vonnegut Jr. (1922-2007), born in Indianapolis, studied at Cornell University, Carnegie Mellon University, and the University of Tennessee before finally earning a degree from the University of Chicago. He served in World War II, where he was captured by the Germans.
