Abstract |
“Exterior shot, Fort Pitt—1768,” begins the story within a story, a screenplay by Josiah Pierce called Point of Destiny for which Hollywood executive Mariah Walker scouts film locations in Pittsburgh. When Mariah tours Point State Park with Josiah, he asks that she touch a remnant of the rampart wall of Ft. Pitt, which transports her to 1768. The rugged and masculine Thorn, fictitious star of the screenplay, soon rescues her from a near rape by two traders. Mariah quickly falls for Thorn, but, knowing that he dies in the screenplay, searches for ways to save the plot’s hero.
