Abstract

Follows a man (Viggo Mortensen) and his son (Kodi Smit-McPhee) who struggle to survive a burned-out America. The setting is ambiguous, but as the film was shot in the Pittsburgh area, the characters appear to walk from Western Pennsylvania south to the Gulf Coast.

Based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel of the same name by Cormac McCarthy (1933— ).

Filming locations included Allegheny County's Strip District, Braddock, and McKeesport, Crawford County's Conneaut Lake Park, and Erie County's Presque Isle.
