Abstract |
A charming Pittsburgh dog—a massive black Newfoundland pup named Seaman—describes his experiences following his master and boatman of the Lewis and Clark Expedition. The novel opens briefly in Pittsburgh where its big boat is built on the Allegheny River before sailing the Ohio River to St. Louis and the Western frontier, eventually to the Pacific coast.
