Author Biography |
Conrad Richter (1890-1968), born in Pine Grove, Schuylkill County, moved with his preacher father to various coal towns in Pennsylvania, and as a teenager he began as a journalist in Johnstown and Pittsburgh. Richter was a winner of the Pulitzer Prize, and his novel The Waters of Kronos won the 1961 National Book Award. He died in Pottsville, Schuylkill County.
