Sequel to The Burnt District (2003). Soldiers flood the city in 1846 on their way to the Mexican-American War. When dead bodies appear in the streets, Pittsburgh constable John Parker suspects soldiers rather than local criminals.

Author Biography
Gary Link (1962— ), formerly a records manager for Allegheny County, worked with old documents which inspired a fascination with Pittsburgh's little known 1840s history. He lives in Freeport, Armstrong County on the Allegheny River.
