Abstract | Eight stories that share the fictional setting of Tenney's Landing, Pennsylvania, on the Monongahela River. Tudish offers an historical sketch of the village in a prologue: founder Lucius Tenney was a Virginia soldier who first arrived during one of George Washington's campaigns. According to a 2005 interview with the author in the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, this scenario is borrowed from her family history. |
Author Biography | Catherine Tudish (1952— ), born in Greensboro, Greene County, had a brief stay on the Monongahela River before traveling the world with her military family. She's worked as a journalist and taught literature and writing at Harvard and Dartmouth. |
