During promotional interviews for his first novel, Of Oil and Blood, Erwin Arnovitz stated he had just completed a semi-autobiographical second novel. “[‘The Venomed Spear’] traces the life of a young Jew through his school days,” says The American Jewish Outlook, “and eventually to medical school. The theme of the new book is intolerance.”

Erwin Arnovitz (1920-86), born in McKeesport, Allegheny County, earned his undergraduate and medical degrees at the University of Pittsburgh. He practiced medicine in the Monongahela Valley.
